Xanadu Beach Resort & Marina

Bahamas Hotels

From its inception, Xanadu Beach Resort and Marina, a sub-tropical yacht and tennis club was home-away-from-home to the international jet-set. in 1969, the grand opening was heralded as the "social event of the year", welcoming such superstars as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Cary Grant and David Merrick as well as royality from around the world, all arriving by private jet or yacht.

Upon purchase by Howard Hughes in the mid-70's, the resort's reputation leaped from the celebrity columns to the front page. Hughes spent his days in Penthouse C, which provided a view of the entire grounds - and a secure shelter for his private activities. Selected Xanadu employees resided on the floor below, to provide personal services. Hughes purchased his own large boats and crew to catch fresh fish daily - for himself, staff and guests.

The Xanadu Beach Resort and Marina is located on the southwest coast of Grand Bahama Island and is one of the closest of all island destinations. Gulfstream breezes and temperatures range from the mid-70's in winter to the low 90's in summer.

At Xanadu you'll choose from 49 spacious one-bedroom suites and 137 guest rooms; all offering balconies and dramatic views. We also offer a full service Marina, a wide range of watersports as well as a dive shop on the property.
