Castle Club
Dominican Republic Restaurants
A castle turned home turned restaurant awaits you with carrot soup. A coconut sea bass with green rice and a Thai salad follow. The cold lemon soufflé perfectly complements the meal, which is one of several prix-fixes. The view, the music, the conversation, candles everywhere, rose petals on antique lace tablecloths... perfect for a romantic evening.
Rated by Amelia on 09/01/06 I could not believe the comments by ¨Ron - 4.19.06¨ I don´t like salty food, and have never had a problem at the Castle Club. Also, the mousse is a chocoholic´s dream, and nothing like anything out of a packet, in taste or in texture. I have always enjoyed my visits there and can only assume that Ron´s taste buds are as strange as his spelling. Amelia
Rated by Patricia Nelson on 08/28/06 I have dined at Castle Club several times and will definitely go back. To me it is one of the finest experiences I have ever had. The view is spectacular - palm trees on green hills, 360 degrees. The hosts - Doug & Marguerite, are charming & very friendly. The food is exquisite - very fresh and well prepared. I eagerly await my next visit.

Rated by Roberto on 08/22/06 A magnificant setting gracious hosts, and a memorable meal starting with miniature pesto quiches, right through a salad of garden fresh greens with homemade goat cheese and a flourless chocolate and raspberry cake for dessert. Unique and worth the trip. Roberto
Rated by Tom Nelson on 08/21/06 After my third trip to the Castle Club, I still believe this is the best dining and guest house experience available in the entire Puerto Plata/Sousa/Cabarete area. The setting is fabulous with scenery that is incomparable and cuisine that is innovative and exciting. Each visit has exposed me to new ideas in caribbean cooking. The owners, Doug and Marguerite Beers, are gracious hosts who have opened their beautiful home to guests. The furnishings are stunning and largely made by the owners. On one of our visits we stayed in their guest house rather than in Cabarete and found the peace of the countryside a welcome relief from the bustle of town. Over many visits we have come to love the DR as a vacation spot and will always return to the Castle Club. It is a treasure.

Rated by Lola-Barbara Harvey on 08/13/06 My favorite dining experiences ever, have been the numerous times I and my friends have dined at Maruerite and Doug Beer's Castle Club.Upon arriving, we are so warmly greeted by our charming hosts who invite us into their unique and wonderful home-- a beautiful castle, indeed. One is immediately astounded by the magnificence of the surroundings with expansive vistas of the mountains and palm studded valley and a sunset that rivals any place in the world.During cocktail time, some friends enjoy the serenity of the outdoor patio wher e an inviting hammock awaits, while others explore and admire the wonderful art and artifacts in the home, many of which are the creation of the multi-talented Doug.Yet others, like myself ,love being in the gourmet kitchen chatting with our host and hostess while they prepare our fabulous meal. The dinner itself is absolutely superb. It is served at a comfortable and elegantly appointed table , in the midst of a gorgeous setting with Marguerites special touch ,her bourginvilla petals scattered on a lovely lace tablecloth.Soothing background music adds to the mood. There are five courses, including the hors d'oeuvres , all excellently prepared and presented. My personal favorite entree is the chicken piccata prepared with Doug's wonderful special sauce and complimented by the best garlic mashed potatoes ever! For dessert, I love Marguerites rum chocolate mousse. Absolute perfection.! A visit to the unique and amazing Castle Club would be a highlight of anyone's dining experience in the D.R. Not to be missed!
Rated by Dan on 07/24/06 We just got back from a week long trip in the Dominican. We tried for 5 days straight to get into this place, we were on our honeymoon and would not accomodate us. We were not impressed.
Rated by Ron on 04/19/06 We were there in March 2006 for our 4th visit. Gotta tell you . We were very dissappointed. Here's why.
A. the menue hasn't changed, only the finished product. Way too salty, the pumpkin soup looks the sam but has taken on a completely different flavor. The chicken breast coating was awful. The dessert (chocolate mouse) was a good out of the box Jello product.
B. Doug and Margerite tell a good story about their dreams of a Bed and Breakfast and how they started this project years ago. Well, it would be nice to see some changes. After 4 visits over 5 years there is absolutely no change even down to some tools that haven't been moved for at least 2 years. Very dissappointing.
We have decided to take "The Castle Club" off our list of places to ever see again and not worth evan a look see by new diners.

Rated by Jen Maund on 11/13/05 I loved it. The house, the views, Doug & Margueritte, the food were all wonderful. Beats anything I had in Cabarete, hands-down. A highlight of my trip to the DR, along with Damajagua.
Rated by marina on 02/09/05 The charm of Castle Club is that it has been a labor of love and work in progress for the owners over the last 12+ years. I used to own a kiteboarding school in Cabarete and Castle Club was one of the major highlights of our guests trip! I never had one disappointed client. Doug and Margueriette are the quintessential hosts. If you are expecting something super fancy and high end, then you are better at dining at one of the $$ restaurants in Cabarete. If you want a unique experience, great food, similar to someone inviting you into your home, don't miss Castle Club.
Rated by Eileen Butterworth on 01/05/05 Terrible food! The "castle" is a new unfinished home, not worth the hike out to it. Stay in Cabarete for far better cuisine!!
Rated by jake on 11/01/04 Truly an elegant and rewarding experience!! The veiws of the hill country and peaceful serenity about the castle are astounding, not to mention the warm hosipitality but the couple who own it.
