Model boats-that-sail by Kingsley "Prop" King and paintings by L.D. Lucy. Lucy's magical, mystical paintings have attracted widespread acclaim, and many now hang in Bequia homes. She also creates tiny model boats as hanging ornaments, and greetings cards.
"Prop" King has made the coconut boat a true art form and a visit to their studio home is a fascinating experience.

Lucy and her husband Prop King live simply but peacefully in this solid, homey house overlooking Friendship Bay. They\'re very welcoming, and it\'s a joy to see their art. I love Lucy\'s paintings -- they\'re one of the main reasons we came to Bequia. They\'re very dream-like, similar to Chagall, but have such vibrant, bold colors. I love the theme of the eternal strength of womanhood and the female link to the sea.
The paintings are remarkably priced and within reach of the traveller on a modest budget looking for some original Caribbean art. They make the best souvenirs.
I did not have the cash (they did not accept credit cards as of the summer of 2004) at the time to purchase my painting, but she was happy to reserve it for me until I was able to send her the money upon my return home. I sent it to her via Western Union, and she very promptly FedEx\'ed me the rolled-up canvas. It arrived within a few days at my workplace.
