On 2/24/09 we rented from Buster for a few hours and returned with the car 5 minutes before they said they would meet us on the corner. No one was waiting and the office was locked! After much resistance the Hertz guy and a local policeman let us leave the key as we had to catch the ferry back. They have not responded to emails. Buster put a $538 pending charge on my card a few minutes prior to posting the $37.75 rental charge. I am on the phone on hold now reporting fraud and trying to keep the charge from posting. NO STARS!

Do not use this company they are a absolutute joke! We had a flat tyre on our why back from coba and nobody would help us they just left us stranded in a foreign country with no one to help even thought before leaving there office we where given a amergency number to call incase we got into trouble,then when we finally made it back to cancun they had the cheek to charge us 80 dollars for a new tyre.

BEWARE BEWARE OF BUSTER RENT A CAR. Buster rent a car rented me a car, via a contact from my hotel, hotel basico. I originally rented a car from hertz and when I landed, they had no cars. I needed a car and they showed up with a 10 year old Volkswagen pointer. I drove the car to the COBA ruins only. When I returned, the guy went around with the original damage slip that he showed me and immediately went to the tire bay. It was NOT there. They claimed that someone must have stole the tire and charged me for it, the jack and 2 scratches. The car was ten years old, and they never opened the tire bay when I originally inspected the car. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM. YOU NEED TO AVOID THIS RENTAL CALR AT ALL COSTS. I AM STARTING A CLAIM WITH THE TOURISM OFFICE, POLICE AND CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES. THE TOTAL CHARGE WAS AN ADDITIONAL $350.00.

Experience similar to pureathlete. Currently disputing a $215 charge incurred after we had returned the car after hours and received, after much deliberation, a signature from a Buster employee stating the car was not damaged. Buster is now claiming tire and rim damage, a broken jack and missing tools. Another Buster employee drove us back to the Cancun ferry landing in the same car the night we returned it. There didn't seem to be any tire or rim damage. I, too, refuse to give them even a single star. What a joke.

DONT rent from BUSTER. took money from my credit card after I returned home, for damage that was already on the car, when we collected it.

The Buster Rent a Car are crooks!!! I rented a car for a day, had it back at the hotel at 7am the next day, well before the 10am return time. So As we got back, we gave the keys to the resort consierge and asked if they can return the car, and they said yes sir no problem. Now, when we got back to vancouver, there was a charge of $355usd to our credit card for late fees and other days. What happened was the front desk lady returned the keys to Busters...Crooksters whatever you want to call them and they did not bother to drive the car back. Horrible..We got a white little nissan car that was unsafe to drive, the windshield wipers were broken and did not work, so I had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop at night. I'm sure that is the car that others are complaining about. And of course, once we get back home, Buster is happy that they stole our money and there is not much we can do from Canada.

I still want compensation!!!

BEWARE SCAM ARTISTS. TRAPPED US INTO RENTING A CAR, DECIEVED US OUT OF MONEY< AND THEN WOULD NOT LET US GET OUT OF THE DEAL WHEN THE CAR WAS A COMPLETE PIECE OF CRAP. HORRIBLY RUDE AND AGRESSIVE PEOPLE

I agree with Bob Farina. Do not rent from buster rent a car. car was in horrible condition, given to us with no fuel and a near flat tire. We rented the vehicle from the valentin imperial maya resort, thinking it would be reputable. The morning we returned the car, there was a flat tire, my husband and the buster rep. changed the tire with a spare (baloney skin in the trunk). and we were sent on our way, with no one available to take care of paperwork and return our credit voucher. For the next 3 days of we tried to get in touch with someone from buster regarding the credit card voucher, there was never anyone at the desk who could help us and were told over and over that someone would be there in the afternoon. After arriving home we realized that they charged our credit card $400.39, car rental had already been paid for. when we called to inquire about the charge we were told it was for 2 tires. The original flat tire and the bald spare that "we ruined because we drove on it for too long". never drove on it at all. So unless you want to get ripped off-dont rent from buster!!!!!!!!

BUSTER CAR RENTAL BEWARE !!!!!ID#: 12574949 In April of 2007 i prearranged a passenger van for Dec 20-27th pick up from Cancun with Buster Car Rental for my group of 10. My online booking including time i required the vehicle and also outlined that i had to catch the 1:30 car ferry at Punta Venada- so the car being ready at the time i requested was very important. When i arrived at 11 am i was told the passenger van would not be available until much later that afternoon. After much arguing the clerk i was given an SUV and an old Nissan car to transport my group of 10 people. We complained the Nissan car did not look like it was operable, furthermore one of the tires looked flat. The representatives assured us the car was fine, and the tire was not flat. Sure enough, the tire was flat before we reached our destination and a Buster Car Rental rep was called to our rental home in Cozumel to change the tire. At the end of our trip we packed the cars to return to Cancun to catch our flight. Buster agreed to be there at 12:30pm to pick up the cars. The Nissan car would not start !!!!! Somehow we packed 10 of us and luggage into the SUV and made the ferry by the skin of our teeth When we arrived at the airport, we had to wait almost an hour for the Buster rep to show up- forcing us to almost miss our flight. To add insult to injury, the most damning event is that after the pain and hassle they put us through - a week later then charged my credit card an additional $3,175 pesos without my knowledge. they have yet to reply to my complaints. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM BUSTER CAR RENTAL !!!!
