El Mexicano
This fun, lively restaurant seats 300 for a folkloric dinner show (nightly at 8) in a room resembling the patio of a hacienda. Although touristy, it does try to serve authentic Mexican cuisine; the menu offers a number of family recipes. Try the huachinango a la Veracruzana (snapper in the Veracruz style, with tomatoes, olives, and sweet chili) or the carne asada la Tampiqueña (thin fillets of seared beef served with chilies). Traditional T-bone steaks are also good. With mariachis serenading you while you eat, this is not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner. DC, MC, V.
