El Moro

Rodolfo “El Moro” Chacon and his sons have been serving tourists and locals alike for the last 24 years and despite being a long way from the waterfront, El Moro remains a popular destination for island newcomers as well as frequent visitors. They offer a great seafood platter called the Zacarias Special, however we love to order the “fish in paper” or “shrimp in wires” (shrimp-kebob) from the English side of the menu. If you stop in on a Saturday or Sunday, you’ll generally find them cooking up some cochinita pibil or one of their other Yucatecan specialties. This spot is famous for always serving their guests an extra dish “on the house”, and we give them an extra star for being one of the friendliest places we’ve come across yet.

By far the best restaurant in Cozumel. Have eaten there numerous times.

Great food and lots of fun. Abel was a fantastic waiter and a good match on the air hockey game. Lots of tequila...lots of great food...lots of great times. I was there in the Spring of 2003 and am stopping in Cozumel on a cruise this Winter of 2006. I was just checking to make sure the place was still around. Can't wait to meet up with some old friends next week. Here comes Sancho!

OUTSTANDING food. Off the beaten track and cafeteria style. But wow the food is out of this world and we eat there a lot when we visit the island. We even have brought gifts to them as they are so wonderful!
