Rated by Judy L. on 08/15/11 It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The Rio Mar was beautiful but had no activities beyond just laying out at the beach or the pool. We rented a car and went Parasailing, Horseback riding, Ziplining, and did the bio-ulimance bay. We would definitely return the weather was perfect and the local people are great. It was nice no matter wre we went on the island people could speak english so we didnt feel intimated at all.
Rated by Laura Olson on 04/28/11 This was our first trip to Puerto Rico and to the Wyndham Rio Mar and had a pleasant time. The location is good and the beach was great. We had a beautiful view from our ocean facing room, and the beds were comfortable. The restaurants are definitely expensive. A rental car is a must to get "off campus" to other restaurants (Antojitos is good), to buy cheaper snacks and drinks, and have transportation to sight see. The cost of their transportation is very expensive. The wifi expense is a hassle as one needs to go to the lobby to get free wifi. A cooler needs to be purchased if one wants snacks and drinks in the room, but there is a grocery store and drug store close by. It was nice to be so close to El Yunque Rain Forest for a change of scenery.
Rated by Monica D. on 01/21/11 This was my sixth visit to Puerto Rico and the Rio Mar. When we first visited Puerto Rico, the Rio Mar was owned by Westin and now it is owned by Wyndham. Westin, by far, was superior from Wyndham. The rooms were more luxurious, i.e. bedding, the rooms had a terrible damp smell, there were no refrigerators or water available. When the coffee bar closes for the evening, you are out of luck getting a snack or drink. I feel that they could liven the place up with entertainment, have more restaurants opened later and more activites during the day. Quite a few people complained about the bug bites, we asked and were told they were not bed bugs, the jury is out on that one. During this trip, we were informed that WIFI would cost us $15.00 a day, which never cost us anything, in any hotel we have ever stayed. I can say one thing, the golf however, is the best.
Through my years of staying at the Rio Mar, I have slowly seen a decline in everything, except the personnel, who are very helpful and
