Built in 1940 for the US Air Force golf aficionados stationed at the former Ramey Base, this course was played by such well-known generals as Dwight D. Eisenhower. Course designed by Pete Dye around 1940. Punta Borinquen is now a public golf course.
This 18-hole golf course is located on the northwestern point of Puerto Rico, where the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans intersect. The 55 meter elevation offers breathtaking ocean views and sunsets, which provide a true Caribbean style round golf. Since golf course has no lakes to contend with an abundance of sand traps and brisk crosswinds along with fast sloping greens provide golfers with a memorable challenge.
Punta Borinquen Golf Club plays to a par of 72 and uses three sets of tees varying from 4,908 yards for the women’s tees to 6819 yards from the championship tees. A lighthouse is located behind the green on the signature tenth hole, which is a par 5 and from December to March offers the fortunate player an opportunity to see giant whales during their annual migration.
