Hi,
We visited St. Lucia for the first time and stayed at the Windjammer Landings Resort Hotel. We were given a villa high on the cliffs and overlooking the sea. The accommodations were lovely and we had a full kitchen and beautiful terrace with access from the bedroom and living room. The staff was most attentive, polite and always available for any assistance. We ate all of our meals in the restaurants, there are five of them, and the food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the food and service at Papa Dons and the Dragon Fly. There is also food and drink service on the beach provided by a snack bar. One restaurant was closed during the week we were there, The Upper Deck, which we were told was also excellent. We felt that the food prices were reasonable considering the type of hotel and the convenience. We took the full day cruise to the Pitons, plantation, waterfall and gardens, which also included drinks, lunch and a swim off the boat at a lovely little beach. The price was $100 per person which was very fair and we reduced that cost by 50% by taking a 90 minute time sharing sales pitch by the hotel. The low pressure sales pitch by Kathy was not unpleasant and actually gave us some valuable information about time sharing. We did not buy. We rented a car for a day and traveled down the east coast and through the rain forest and visited another garden which we found to be unimpressive. The traffic around Castries was horrible during the hours 7-10AM and 3-6PM. We decided to not drive anywhere during those hours. We also visited Pigeon Island and the National Park and fort. Very pretty and worth the time.

The hotel did have a few negatives. There is very little shade on the beach. The hotel should provide sun shelters as other hotels do. The hotel should provide an all day coffee machine at the bar or lobby. It was very difficult to get a cup of coffee without ordering it from the restaurant and waiting for it to be brewed. The Island grows coffee! There were far too many children for our comfort. The beach had more children than adults at times and the noise level was totally unacceptable to anyone looking for peace and quiet and adult conversation. The fact that many of the units are time sharing with large families made this resort a little uncomfortable for us and most adults without children. The noise level on Saturday and Sunday was so bad that we had to leave the beach. We also found it very difficult to walk around the resort due to the steep cliffs. You cannot walk back to your room. You must take a shuttle. The hotel is over 90 minutes from the airport and that is without traffic. The trip can be quite exhausting after a long flight. If we were to return to St. Lucia we would probably stay closer to Soufries which is a lovely town without traffic or we would stay within walking distance or short taxi ride to Castries.
