Lucky Stables
Horsemanship has been a high family tradition for generations on St. Maarten. Following the steps of his forefathers, Roderick Halley, locally known as "horseman", established Lucky Stables in 1985. Being a true horseman his focus is on the frail combination of professional horse handling and entertainment.
With the stable and horse activities being respectful to mother nature, Roderick Halley can be considered one of the pioneers in starting the trend of ecotourism on St. Maarten. Offering breeding programs, trail rides, lessons, boarding and training of horses, Lucky Stables is one of the most widely orientated horse organizations on the island.
By explaining the name of his stable, Roderick Halley refers to his first stallion, Lucky. This noble horse, of Spanish and Pasofino bloodlines, formed the perfect foundation for his local breeding program and horseback riding activities.
Although a continuing process of improving facilities and upgrading the different programs, the motto 'Discover St. Maarten by Horse' never changes. Lucky Stables, above all, offers riders of all levels the possibility to discover St. Maarten the traditional way. The serene area of Cape Bay offers a look at nature, not often seen anymore on the island.
