Spectacular beach, excellent food, and very friendly and accommodating staff. Loved every minute of it.

The Ritz Carlton beach is the best in STT, no need to go to the expense for a taxi to crowded Meagan's Bay. Also, the snorkeling off the points at the Ritz are as good as anything else we've come across. If it's your day you will swim with a turtle. The catamaran Lady Lindsey is a must. We op for the half day snorkel but other venues are available. Of course the accommodations at the hotel and residences are superb. The food at the Ritz is, not surprisingly, expensive but no need to worry about the quality. Their sushi bar is the best on the island, and love their French fries at the beach bars. For less extravagant fare two of our favorites within walking distance of the Ritz are the Elysian Bar, ask for Paige the best bartender on the island, and Latitude 18, a local down and dirty beer joint with good music. Most restaurants on STT are overpriced and overrated. We always seek the good ones at respectable prices. These include Fungi's, Jen's, Virgillio's, East End Café, Burrito Bay Deli, and as previously mentioned, the Elysian Bar and Latitude 18. If you go to St John, and you should, plan a whole day and rent a car. It's pretty cheap and really the only way to go. Trunk Bay, Water Lemon Kay (Lenister Bay) and Cinnamon Bay are all worth the visit. You can pack a picnic lunch or buy food at the beaches. Bring water and your snorkeling gear. If you like jazz jams the Beach Bar (Cruz Bay) on Sunday afternoons is pretty good. We've done it a number of times, and I guess are a little burned out on it, but definitely worth a go round. Skinny Legs at Coral Bay (St John) really does have the best burgers in The USVI's. The island of Jost Van Dyke has a "world famous" bar called the Soggy Dollar, (home to the *Pain Killer). We have made the trip and are glad we did. Would we do it again, no need to. If you want to venture there there are many charters, private, public, costly, expensive. You will need your passport and an additional $25 fee. The added burden is now you have left the country and customs on your return to the US Mainland will take notice. * Regarding those Pain Killers...Paige at the Elysian Bar makes the best, yes even better than the Soggy Dollar....but don't ask for a Pain Killer, ask for a "Paige Killer", and tell him Bob from Colorado says Hi!

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and thought it was a beautiful hotel with great rooms and facilities. Infinity pool was fantastic and snorkeling in the area is very nice. We would stay at the Ritz again.
