Loved it, loved it, loved it. Spent the evening with my good friend of 32 years Pam Niro, she and her husband love the place after many visits to St Thomas. I can see why. Probably the best dinner I have eaten in my life. One thing the other reviews do not mentions, and is not on the sample menu though is that this place is very pricey. Plan on dropping a bunch of money on your dinner here, and know it will be well worth it.

My fiancee and I visited Blue Havana last May to see if we wanted to plan a destination wedding here. We immediately fell in love with the convenient location, great atmosphere, and fantastic view. Our dinner was great and the bar and wait staff was fantastic. Flash forward 7 months later....we have sent 7+ emails to the event staff and left numerous phone calls with various managers and the event coordinator and have YET to receive a call back. Apparently the economy on St Thomas has not felt the pain of the economic hardship on the mainland and does not wish to do business on a 70+ person wedding event.

We were recently married at Havana Blue in 2009 and the entire experience was absolutely perfect, in large part due to the event coordinator’s, Elizabeth Smith, efforts and consistent willingness to go the extra mile. We are forever indebted to her for going above and beyond! She always made herself available and promptly responded to our every need. She consistently offered to make our lives easier during that week (and the entire wedding planning experience). It quickly became apparent that there is nothing that she cannot tackle, and that all reasonable requests would not only be met, but exceeded! She is extremely professional and easy to work with and get along well with. Our entire family loved her an most importantly, we trusted her completely with the details of our wedding. We knew that in her hands, our special day would be truly spectacular – and it was! The venue looked gorgeous (thanks in large part to Ali Slimming, our florist), the band (TNT) was excellent, the cake was delicious and the food was superb! On an average day, Havana Blue is an awesome venue, but that night, it was truly magical to us and all of our guests. Your chefs really outdid themselves as well – from our special menu requests to the improvised sweet table, everyone was raving. In fact, everyone is still raving about our wedding and how beautiful Havana Blue was and how great the meal was. The entire staff at Havana Blue helped make this our dream wedding and we’d recommend Havana Blue and Elizabeth to anyone.

Havanna Blue was recommended to us by a native of St. Thomas as her favorite restaurant and we found that to be true. Our party of 8 would definitely go back because of the wonderful food and great wait staff.

Rated by jcherney on 01/28/09
Truly my favorite restaurant on the island. The ambiance, the waitstaff, but most importantly the food are second to none. We had a couple of people in our party that had some dietary requirements, and each and every one was accomodated with a smile (Starr was our waitperson-what a sweetheart). VERY highly recommended.

Our group of four ate at Havana Blue twice last week and both times the service was top notch, the food was an explosion of flavor and artfully presented. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. We will recommend this restaurant to everyone we know. The Grants

I took my family of 6 to Havana Blue last night (ages 4-12) and although I agree that the place is not really geared toward kids, the staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. There is a kids menu (which is unheard of for a place like this) and they have crayons and coloring books for kids. Havana Blue is located on the Marriott property which is very family oriented. The food and ambience at Havana Blue is incredible. This is a must try experience.

By far one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean if not anywhere. Atmosphere is just the beginning of this experience. These people deliver the full experience...flavors, service and ambience are all unparalleled. We have dined all over the world and will travel back to St. Thomas just to dine at Havana Blue. Order the Miso Sea Bass and the Surf & Turf---UNREAL!!

The atmosphere here is just the beginning of a wonderful dining experience. The food is Cuban influenced, but with a touch that only Cuba could dream of! Fantastic dishes and drinks. I'm not a Mojito fan, but make an exception when I visit here. They also have a sangria that is far better than anything I've tasted elsewhere.

My only negative comment is with the hostess. Lousy attitude, unfriendly, and not the first impression a restaurant wants to make. Once you get past this witch, your evening will be truly enjoyable.

I own a condo in St. Thomas and go there 3 to 4 times a year. If there's one thing I do everytime I come back, it's dining at Havana Blue. The atmosphere and the food are superb. The food portions are always the right amount unlike the huge dishes you typically get in American restaurants. I've brought family and friends and they too love eating there. Simply put, Havana Blue is fantastic.

If your bravest hopes for a restaurant experience in paradise are affected by hip examples in Miami, "oh my gosh" spots in Malibu or Hawaii, the Med or other fashionable zip codes, Blue will NOT disappoint you. Utterly stunning space and vistas; drop-dead romantic; young, engaging staff; sexy vibes; fabulous, wonderfully creative food. We dined widely all over St. T - like all Caribbean venues, restaurants are affected by "busy-season" rhythms and sometimes, ennui - but this spot was without peer or comparison - a terrific night. Warning: take your significant other here and you'll want to propose before the cheque arrives - BLUE can do that to you.

My husband & I stay at the Morning Star every year & we have not found a better restaurant on the island,or at home ,that has the excellent food & service as Havana Blue. Our only regret last time we were in St. Thomas is that we only ate there twice~going back in 6 weeks & can't wait to eat at Havana Blue!!!

Rated by Gena, NY on 01/04/08
We've eaten at the best restaurants in the World and this one would rank up there with any of them! Very inventive cuisine and perfectly balanced flavors. This definitely a dining experience to remember. We ate there on our anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Clearly the busiest restaurant on St. Thomas and for good reason. I cannot fathom how anyone could claim the food and service here are anything but divine. Will definitely go back.

Having been a loyal patron of Havana Blue since it opened in 2004, I can offer some insight on the review below which mentions the chef leaving. The Chef De Cuisine at Havana Blue is Jose "Pepe" Rodriguez. He has been there since the opening and is still there today. The Executive Chef has changed a couple of times but anyone who knows anything about the restaurant business knows that the Executive Chef isn't the one who actually cooks the food or develops the menus---the Chef De Cuisine and the Sous Chefs handle thiese duties. Chef Rodriguez has always done amazing work with the cuisine at Havana Blue and I always look forward to dining there every year I return to St. Thomas. Plus, I just heard they hired their new Executive Chef from New York and this guy actually worked for Jean Georges and acclaimed chef, Ferran Adria of E. Bulli. It doesn't get any better than that!.

We visit Havana Blue at least twice each year from Dallas. We love the decor, the atmosphere, the service and the outstanding/creative food. The menu changes often and is excellent. The decor along with the location by the water cannot be beat! If you would like something negative, I can only think of one thing, the knives were not sharp enough. What a great experience!! We will always come back every time we visit St. Thomas. Wayne and Darlene Weatherly

recently went back to St. Thomas (we live in the BVI)and came to visit Havana Blue, again I had a wonderful meal and experience. Unfortunatly I heard that the Chef left and is now back in the states. The Chef was amazing and came out to say hi every time I came in. I took my daughters in over the summer and he made them feel like queens. Its unfortunate that he is no longer there and I hope the cuisine remains as amazing as it is.
Good Luck Chef!!

I was lucky enough to be able to have my 28th Birthday dinner at Havana Blue. There were atleast 15 people in our party. The service was wonderful and the food, well there really aren't words for how amazing it was. The staff was friendly and attentive to all of our needs. The views are breath taking. I highly recommend this resturant if you visit St. Thomas.

Service was slower than I expected but the restarant was packed and the cuisine made up for the wait. We need to get a restaurant like this in our hometown of Atlanta. This is a one of a kind place with a one of a kind culinay style. We will be back to Havana Blue n every trip here

Havana Blue is by far the best restaurant on St. Thomas and the rest of the virgin islands. They also just aquired Chef Richard Garcia who came out to greet us at the end of our meal. We are from the Boston area and know of Chef Garcia talent as he was a Chef in our area.We were very pleased and surprised when we found out he was the new chef. The food was amazing and the service was great. We will be coming back to Havana Blue on every trip. We had the Chefs tasting menu 6 courses of truly magnificent smart fusion. The daily menu looked great as well and the mojitos are the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is chic Miami/New York and the entire staff and management team made us feel like movie stars. Highly urge everyone to make the trip to St. Thomas just to experience Havana Blue would make it worth the trip.

I took my girlfriend to St. Thomas to propose but didn't know exactly where to do it. The event coordinator at the Elysian Hotel (Jamie) recommended a unique and special dinner on the beach at Havana Blue that provided the ideal setting for a sunset proposal. Consisting of 7 courses, a different wine for each, and served by a private server, this was by far the most amazing meal my fiance and I have ever tasted. Havana's preparation and service truly exceeded all expectations, the food was incredible and though somewhat pricey, the private dinner on the beach is a truly memorable experience that I recommend to all couples.

I cannot fathom how anyone could give this restaurant a poor review. It has got to be one of the best kept secrets on the national/international culinary scene. The food, ambience, service, total experience is on par with anything I've tried in NYC, LA, Miami and even Paris, France...and we only dine with the best. The chef's tasting menu was better than a recent tasting we had at the renowned Charlie Trotter's in Chicago. This is one of those experiences that everyone travelling to St. Thomas must try. Simply fantastic.

My wife and I just ate at your restaurant last night. Everything was excellent
from the staff greeting us at the door, to the bartender taking special
orders for drinks, moving us to a table near the beach, etc. The soft
shelled crab was the best I ever tasted-as was the calamari. We have eaten
at several five star places and you topped them all.

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Roberts. As locals we have been dying to attract a restaurant that would compete with what we are accustomed to stateside in big cities like Miami and New York. Havana Blue could compete in any market with its amazing food and efficient, friendly service. The chef really is a genius and I've yet to see another staff on island match the quality of service we get time and again at Havana Blue. We take all of our out of town guests to dine at least once at Havana Blue. I hope this restaurant stays in St. Thomas forever!

I have lived in St. Thomas for 30 years and this the premier dining experience. All of the other fine dining restaurants have similar menus and themes...caribbean fusion with decent wine lists. This group has pushed the envelope and delivers a top notch experience in both service and cuisine. Incredible atmosphere, creative menu and drinks and service that goes well above island standards. Keep up the great work.

Havana Blue was my selected site for my June 30, 2006 wedding reception and though I chose it "sight unseen", I was thorougly pleased with the ENTIRE experience. Excellent-EXCELLENT food (the Sea Bass is "off the chain"), attentive service, interesting and eclectic menu, sounds of the (real) ocean...just wonderful beyond words. I was really able to provide for my guests the fine dining experience I'd imagined. Everyone in attendance just went on and on about the high caliber of the food and the experience.
And working w/ Events Coordinator, Winifred McLean was just as pleasant an experience. She is detail oriented, client/customer focused, professional and responsive. Kimberly Hulsey--Newlywed

I was born in Cuba, raised in Miami, and had a Caribbean/Asian fusion restaurant back before the concept existed. I've eaten at Doug Rodriguez's Yuca and other high end Caribbean restaurants and I sincerely didn't think they could pull it off in St. Thomas.

They have: Havana Blue's decor is breathtaking, the food is sublime, and the balance between seriously good food and seriously snooty staff has been acheived. It's fine dining, but fine dining well suited for the lapping of the waves at Frenchman's Bay.

But, to me, the real stunner it took a Puerto Rican - chef )mar Sanchez -- to pull off a sultry Havana vibe on de island. God bless those with eclectic vision and the talent to realize it.

Wonderful! My husband and I ate there 4 times out of our 6 night stay. It was truly amazing and we hated to leave. The ceviche was outstanding, as was the crab appetizer. The chef personally visited our table and tailored a dish for my husband; he can't eat spicy food. We were very impressed.

Having been one of the guests at the wedding dinner for Mr & Mrs. Lenk -- I thought the service was excellent and of course the food, as usual, was delicious.
