Turks & Caicos Marriage Requirements

Legal Requirements for Marriage in Turks & Caicos

Couple must be in the Turks & Caicos for 48 hours prior to making their marriage application with either the Pastor or Marriage Officer. To ensure smooth scheduling, etc. please contact either the Pastor or Marriage Officer as far in advance as possible.

There is a time period of two or three days before you can receive the marriage license during which one or both parties must reside in the Turks & Caicos.

Both parties must submit passports as proof of identification. Blood tests are not required.

If divorced an original divorce decree must be produced. If widowed an original death certificate must be submitted. Notarized copies with an original stamp are acceptable.

Both parties must be over 21 years of age: If either or both are minors, but over 16 years, a notarized written consent of one or both parents or legal guardian must be produced. Notarized proof of legal guardianship must be submitted.

Both parties must not be within the prohibited decrees of relationship to each other, e.g. brother and sister, and be of the opposite sex.

Following the wedding ceremony the Pastor or Marriage Officer must have the marriage license registered at the Registrar General's Office in Grand Turk. Depending upon weekends or holidays it can take a few days to receive it in Providenciales.
